An teenage adolescent has been sentenced to life behind bars with a base period of 16 years for the homicide of fellow schoolmate the deceased during a midday recess.

Mohammed Umar Khan knifed the deceased, who was also 15, into the cardiac area with a weapon at the city's educational institution in February.

The prosecution argued that he had "wanted to prove he was formidable" and "understood exactly what he was performing".

"You were the aggressor and... you acted in hurt and anger at what you viewed to be his treachery of your relationship," pronounced the court official during sentencing.

Aftermath

All Saints Catholic High School released a message conveying that Harvey was "deeply mourned every single day by the whole educational community".

Police officials highlighted the tragic outcomes of bearing knives, observing that a "split-second choice" can irreversibly transform various existences.
