Significant Online Outage Hits Numerous Sites and Apps

A large-scale online outage has disrupted dozens websites and applications worldwide, and users experiencing issues accessing the internet due to difficulties at the cloud computing system.

The impacted apps include Snapchat, Roblox, the messaging service Signal, and the language learning app Duolingo, in addition to multiple Amazon-operated services such as its main retail website and the Ring security doorbell company.

Across the United Kingdom, the financial institution Lloyds was impacted as well as its branches the bank Halifax and the Scottish bank, with additional accounts of difficulties using the the tax authority website on Monday morning. Furthermore across the UK, many Ring users used online platforms to complain their home gadgets were failing.

Just within Britain, notifications of disruptions on specific apps ran into the tens of thousands for every service.

Amazon reported that the outage began in the east coast of the America at the cloud division, a section that supplies essential online infrastructure for numerous firms, who lease capacity on the company's servers. AWS is the biggest global cloud computing platform.
