Particulars of the Terrifying Event CCTV video allegedly shows the employee trying to stop the attacker as the train traveled between Peterborough and Huntingdon in the county. Bystanders recounted a terrifying 14-minute duration after the train departed Peterborough, with bloodied victims fleeing through compartments. The individual, a 32-year-old citizen from Peterborough, is in custody for interrogation. Police announced a significant event on the 6:25 pm service from Peterborough to King's Cross in downtown London. Emergency Response and Aftermath The event on the weekend resulted in 11 people being treated in medical facilities after the train made an unplanned stop at the station in Huntingdon. Five people have since been released from hospital. A bystander filmed the suspect brandishing a big knife and being shot with a Taser as he confronted officers on the station. He was reportedly heard shouting, "Kill me, kill me." “This terrible incident has affected many people. Our sympathies go out to the injured and their loved ones – particularly the brave member of train personnel whose family are being supported by trained personnel,” stated a senior law enforcement official. Labor Response and Appeals for Measures Train associations were quick to commend employees and demand more action. A union leader said he would be “requesting urgent meetings with authorities, rail employers and law enforcement to guarantee that we have the best available assistance, tools and robust procedures in place”. Another union representative encouraged the rail company and government “to move quickly to examine security, to support the impacted workers, and to ensure nothing like this occurs again”. Driver Commended for Rapid Action The train driver who halted the train at Huntingdon was described as being “deeply affected” but “good”, and has been praised by union representatives for doing “exactly the right thing”. “He did not stop the service in the center of two stops where it’s clearly difficult for the emergency services to access, but he continued going until he got to Huntingdon, where the assistance was pretty much waiting,” stated a union official. Further Information Police said they received the initial distress reports at 7:39 pm, and the service was forced to make an unplanned stop in Huntingdon at 7:50 pm. One observer recounted at first thinking if the situation was a holiday joke, but quickly realized from people's faces that it was real. Police have stated there is no evidence to suggest the event was a terror-related attack and have asked the public to come forward with any further details. Rail services on the affected line are expected to have disruption until Monday, with travelers advised to postpone their travel where possible. Individuals with information that could help the investigation are asked to reach police by sending a message a designated number with a case code.
